Community Initiatives

Strong communities make a strong province.

A project that would fit into Community Initiatives category is the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Recruitment Campaign. Other eligible projects are volunteer initiatives that help a community become stronger, like the United Way, the Children's Wish Foundation, or the Peace Pole (a tribute to peace we helped build in Saskatoon). Another project that we have sponsored focused on solving a specific environmental problem - protecting the endangered Burrowing Owl.

Projects in the Community Initiative section can fall into one of the following areas:

  • Community Services
  • Family Health and Safety
  • Community Development
  • Environmental Stewardship

Project Example:
Horses for the Handicapped

Riding horses proves to be of immense therapeutic benefit to handicapped children. In 1998, SaskEnergy helped defray the cost of installing natural gas in the Horses for the Handicapped's Saskatoon-area facility, so the children could ride all year round.
