December 13, 2004 - Controlled Shutdown at TransGas Asquith Cavern Project

Responding to a request from the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, TransGas has initiated a controlled shutdown of a project to construct natural gas storage caverns near the town of Asquith.

December 3, 2004 - SaskEnergy/TransGas Alumni Help North Central Neighbourhood

With snow on the ground and winter officially on its way, a group of SaskEnergy/TransGas retirees from across southern Saskatchewan today donated a snowblower that will allow youth to help out seniors and other residents of North Central Regina. The snowblower will be an important part of the North Central Family Association’s Youth Empowerment Program.

December 1, 2004 - SaskEnergy and Paul McCallum Make Dreams Come True

Today at the University of Regina, Paul McCallum, the 2004 SaskEnergy Catch for KidSport Ambassador, helped hand over a cheque worth over $39,000 to KidSport™ Saskatchewan, bringing the program’s seven-year total to just over $196,000. The 2004 donation will help another 565 kids achieve their dreams by getting involved in sport.

November 26, 2004 - SaskEnergy President Named

Premier Lorne Calvert announced today the appointment of Doug Kelln, P. Eng., as President and CEO of SaskEnergy, effective immediately.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of a long-time SaskEnergy employee and executive to this position,” Calvert said. “Mr. Kelln is very knowledgeable about the gas business and we are confident in his ability to lead the corporation in the years ahead.”

November 23, 2004 - SaskEnergy’s 11 year-old Recycling Project Becomes a Legacy

In a community-minded move, SaskEnergy today handed over its highly successful 11 year-old warm clothing program, the SaskEnergy Share the Warmth Recycling Project, to the citizens of Saskatchewan. The move is aimed at creating a legacy of giving through “official permanent Share the Warmth depots” around the province and an awards program for schools that remain involved with the project.

November 17, 2004 - TransGas Issues Statement on Water Quantity and Quality in Asquith Area

TransGas Limited (TransGas) is developing four underground natural gas storage caverns in the Asquith area. This storage cavern development is essential for providing safe and reliable natural gas service in the Saskatoon area, as the pipeline network alone cannot meet the future needs for natural gas on cold winter days.

November 10, 2004 - TransGas Operation Suspended Pending Further Research

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority has asked TransGas to initiate a controlled shutdown of operations near Vanscoy to allow for further research into public concerns about groundwater levels in the Grandora area. TransGas had originally scheduled a temporary shut down for March 2005. The company will co-operate with the Authority by advancing the timing of the planned shutdown by approximately 15 weeks.

November 5, 2004 - SaskEnergy’s 11th Annual Share the Warmth Recycling Project About to Begin!

During Saskatchewan’s cold winter months, thousands of children and adults will need warm winter clothing like mitts, toques, scarves, blankets and sweaters – or warm fuzzies - to stay warm. The SaskEnergy Share the Warmth Project, held from November 1-8 this year, will ensure that people in our communities who need these warm items receive these basic winter necessities.

November 3, 2004 - SaskEnergy First Corporate Partner of Global Youth Service Day

SaskEnergy is the first corporate partner in Saskatchewan to collaborate with Volunteer Canada to promote Global Youth Service Day, April 15-17, 2005. As well, SaskEnergy is proud to present the 2nd Annual Global Youth Service Day awards on February 28, 2005. SaskEnergy began the awards in 2004 because the company wanted to foster the volunteer spirit in young people.

October 27, 2004 - SaskEnergy to create a lasting legacy for Saskatchewan children

SaskEnergy will contribute to the health and well-being of Saskatchewan children through a $500,000 contribution to the Royal Care Campaign for University Hospital (RUH) Foundation. Over the next five years the funds will be targeted specifically for pediatric health research support.

October 14, 2004 - Canada Games reaching out to volunteers

More than 5,000 volunteers will be required to help stage the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina, Moose Jaw, Lumsden and Saskatchewan Beach from August 6-20, 2005. To help fill that void, the 2005 Canada Games Host Society launched its volunteer recruitment campaign at separate events in Regina and Moose Jaw today.

October 4, 2004 - Rider Legends, Olympians and Paralympians join together to support Saskatchewan kids

Twelve of Saskatchewan’s greatest athletes led a trademark charity program to success once again, through SaskEnergy’s “Line Up with the Legends” Program. This year, Rider Legends, Olympians and Paralympians from the 2004 Athens contingent helped corporate teams raise more than $18,300 for KidSportTM Saskatchewan. These funds will help underprivileged Saskatchewan kids participate in sport.

October 1, 2004 - Saskatchewan’s Olympians and Paralympians to be honored at Roughrider game

Saskatchewan athletes and support staff who attended the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece, will be honoured as part of the festivities involving the Saskatchewan Roughrider home game against the Montreal Alouettes on Oct. 2.

September 29, 2004 - TransGas & SaskEnergy Using Innovative Tools to Keep Public Safe

TransGas, the pipeline transmission company of SaskEnergy is using innovative technology to test and maintain their natural gas pipeline system to ensure the safety of the public. TransGas and SaskEnergy construction crews will be inspecting a 12” natural gas pipeline to confirm its integrity and strength and ability to safely operate into the future. The pipeline, which runs adjacent to Circle Drive between Clarence Avenue and Boychuk Drive, is the main feeder that supplies homes, businesses and industrial customers in the Saskatoon area and throughout eastern Saskatchewan.

Several initiatives were announced for the province's centennial including a recognition program, exciting marketing campaign, homecoming program and song competition in front of thousands of flag- and pompom-waving students and residents in Yorkton.

September 13, 2004 - SaskEnergy Donation to help Regina Food Bank Programs and Services

The Regina and District Food Bank today received a delivery van and a donation of surplus computer equipment from SaskEnergy.

September 1, 2004 - Prime Rate Loans help customers save money by conserving energy while helping the environment

SaskEnergy, in partnership with its Network Members and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) announced today the ENERGY STAR® Loan Event, a prime rate loan program available to all homeowners wishing to upgrade their furnaces and boilers to ENERGY STAR® qualified high-efficiency units.

August 9, 2004 - TransGas Begins High Pressure Natural Gas Line Test East of Regina

TransGas, the natural gas transmission subsidiary of SaskEnergy, today began preparing to perform a hydrostatic pressure test of the pipeline which provides natural gas service to the communities of Pilot Butte, Emerald Park, White City and Balgonie.

April 7, 2004 - Sask. 1st Call celebrates a Saskatchewan Milestone

Sask. 1st Call, Saskatchewan’s underground facility location screening and notification service, today celebrated a milestone. Through its 17 members, Sask. First Call now represents a quarter million kilometers of buried infrastructure across Saskatchewan, all of which can now be accessed by a single, toll-free number.

April 1, 2004 - TransGas Helps Promote Literacy in Southwestern Saskatchewan

Today, the Southwest TransGas Share the Warmth Fund donated the funds necessary to purchase three computers for the Tutoring and Literacy Program in Maple Creek. The Program in turn bought the computers from the In Kind Centre of Saskatchewan. The computers will be an aid to 25 students, both children and adults, who have moved to Saskatchewan from countries like China and South Korea and are learning English as a second language.

Larry LeBlanc, President of Sask Sport Inc., today announced that SaskEnergy, the province’s gas utility, will receive the Sask Sport Inc. President’s Citation for its outstanding contributions to amateur sport in Saskatchewan.

January 28, 2004 - New Record Set for Natural Gas Consumption

This week’s extreme temperatures have set a new record for natural gas consumed within Saskatchewan. TransGas, the pipeline transmission subsidiary of SaskEnergy, has set a record over the past 24 hours, delivering 1.12 PetaJoules of natural gas to its customers. This is an 8 per cent increase over the previous record set earlier this winter on January 4, 2004.

Halifax, NS - For the first time ever, the people of Nova Scotia are enjoying the benefits of natural gas distribution service. Heritage Gas today announced it has connected natural gas service to its first residential and commercial customers in the province.
