SaskEnergy Team Energy Enviro-Action Grants

The SaskEnergy Community Fund is comprised of funding set aside for sponsorship that is directed through appointed employees representing the various SaskEnergy and TransGas regional offices around the province. There are 10 Community Fund Committees in Saskatchewan.

These employees are trained to make decisions at the local level with the objective of ensuring thats funds are invested in rural Saskatchewan. Requests for Community Fund sponsorship do not generally exceed $1000.00.

SaskEnergy Community Barbecues may be in support of a charity, sponsorship commitment, customer service or community initiative and they operate in areas throughout the province. There are barbecues located in Moose Jaw/Swift Current; North Battleford; Prince Albert; Saskatoon; Yorkton/Weyburn and Regina.

SaskEnergy will also provide up to $500.00 reimbursement for food (hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, condiments (ketchup, relish, mustard) and pop/juice/water only) with reciepts.

Weather permitting, and subject to availability of techincal staff required to operate the equipment, the program runs from May 1st to September 30th. Rare exceptions outside of that timeframe can be but the decision will be based on the nature of the request.

Due to the high pressure delivery system, a qualified Technician must be in attendance to set up and take down the equipment as well as be on site in the event of an emergency.

Please note: Because the barbecue trailers also provide an emergency response function for operating units in the Areas, barbecues can be cancelled without notice so all organizations should have a back-up plan in place.

SaskEnergy and Habitat for Humanity are proud to partner in the SaskEnergy Home Energy Legacy Program (HELP) where selected homeowners, with an annual combined income under $52,000, will save money and help the environment with energy efficiency home improvements valued at up to $15,000.

The SaskEnergy Home Energy Legacy Program (HELP) kicked off its pilot year with five low-income homeowners in Saskatoon and two low-income homeowners in Regina receiving a home energy efficiency makeover.

The SaskEnergy HELP initiative was developed with three key objectives in mind: educating our customers about energy efficiency, helping families in need, and encouraging volunteerism in the community.

Saskatoon

HEEP was established in 2005 to provide low-income homeowners with more than $200 worth of home improvements. The product that was installed by volunteers were: furnace filters, programmable thermostats; window shrink film, door weather-stripping, compact fluorescent light bulbs, water-saving showerheads and toilet tank inserts. The home improvements allow families to save on energy and water consumption, some saving as much as $100 annually on their utility bills.

On December 3, SaskEnergy, The Salvation Army and SIAST announced that the SaskEnergy Home Energy Efficiency Project (HEEP) had surpassed its five-year goal to reach 2,500 Saskatchewan families with energy efficient upgrades. The three organizations, together with business and community partners, and hundreds of volunteers worked together to help 2,615 families lower their energy costs.

Now after 43 project days and 57 participating communities, SaskEnergy will sit down with its many community partners in the coming months to consider options for continuing its community-based energy efficiency programming in 2011.
