SaskEnergy Hockey Day in Saskatchewan
Since 2008, SaskEnergy and the Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) have partnered to present SaskEnergy Hockey Day
in Saskatchewan! This Saskatchewan tradition is scheduled for the third Saturday in January and
promotes the game of hockey, highlights the importance of the local community rink, and
celebrates the many volunteers who assist in keeping hockey active in their community. The
SHA's 221 member associations are all invited to participate. Each year one association is
selected to act as the host community and will receive the proceeds from a gala evening banquet
to support a rink project. Unity, Lampman, Lanigan and Waldheim have been host communities.
The official date set for the 5th annual province-wide event is January 21, 2012, where the City of Melville will be the host community.

As part of SaskEnergy's sponsorship, the SaskEnergy Volunteer Champion awards for
each local hockey community is offered to individuals who have provided outstanding
service as volunteers to the local hockey community - either as coaches, officials,
team managers or association organizers. The presentation of these awards occur
during the local SaskEnergy Hockey Day in Saskatchewan celebration activities.
Through this sponsorship SaskEnergy continues its commitment to communities all
across Saskatchewan who view their rinks as the heartbeat of their community.
