SaskEnergy supports many science and environmental education programs throughout Saskatchewan, including:
Saskatchewan Science Centre's Go!Science Program - SaskEnergy is the title sponsor for
this outreach program that takes staff on the road to deliver exciting and interactive
science education to over 40,000 Saskatchewan students per year.
Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre, Moose Jaw – SaskEnergy continues to provide key funding
for the "Owls on Tour" program, which promotes habitat protection and understanding of the
challenges faced by local species at risk.
Nature Quest - SaskEnergy sponsors this program that educates students about Saskatchewan's
boreal forests. It is delivered by Nature Saskatchewan primarily throughout northern
communities.
Destination Conservation - SaskEnergy partners with SaskPower and the Saskatchewan
Environmental Society to sponsor this province-wide program that challenges Saskatchewan
students to implement energy conservation measures and engages youth in environmental
education over a three year term.
Conservation Learning Centre, Prince Albert - SaskEnergy supports this regional program
that provides hands-on environmental education.
EYES Science Camps, University of Regina - SaskEnergy supports this annual program that
educates thousands of students about science and engineering every year. The program
is run by engineering students at the University of Regina.
SCI-FI Science Camps, University of Saskatchewan – Similar to the EYES Science Camps,
this program is also a student-run initiative aimed at educating youth about science and
engineering.
FSIN Summer Science Festivals – SaskEnergy supports these important science learning
opportunities for Aboriginal youth. The goal of the Summer Festival program is to help
foster in Aboriginal students a desire to pursue science in their future academic and
professional careers.
Prairie Conservation Action Plan – SaskEnergy provides sponsorship for the annual
"Eco-Extravaganza," a program that promotes habitat protection and environmental
conservation and is delivered to thousands of children in dozens of schools throughout
Saskatchewan every year.
Saskatchewan Waste Management Council – By sponsoring its Waste Management School Day
program, SaskEnergy has assisted the council in promoting conservation among students in
Saskatchewan schools. Measures taught include: less consumerism, recycling, resource
conservation, energy efficiency, etc.
Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin Annual Envirothon –SaskEnergy supports this
event that engages high school students in a competitive experience focused on environmental
education. Every year, the winning Saskatchewan team goes on to compete internationally.
Brightwater Science and Environmental Centre – SaskEnergy sponsors this facility that
provides interactive field education about the environment to elementary school students
in Saskatoon and surrounding areas.
Wings over Wascana – SaskEnergy supports this education festival held in Regina's Wascana
Park. Hosted by Friends of Wascana Marsh, the festival is an opportunity for local students
to learn about environmental issues.
