Nearly 6,000 more SaskPower and SaskEnergy customers opted for paperless billing during a recent province-wide campaign and contest promoting the online services of both utilities. Six lucky entrants won ENERGY STAR®-qualified MacBook Air Notebooks for choosing to stop receiving their paper bills.
Contest winners are: Derek Cousins and Dave Klinger of Saskatoon; Colton Edwards of Delisle; and Lori Fletcher, Betty Larsen, and Amanda Wood of Regina.
With their new MacBook Air Notebooks, these winners will be doing even more for the environment, since laptops use up to 90 per cent less power than desktop computers.
"Our Crowns are teaming up to encourage customers to do their part for the environment," minister of Crown corporations Ken Cheveldayoff said. "But there's still more work to be done. If half of all SaskEnergy and SaskPower customers made the commitment to stop receiving paper bills, we could print and mail 300,000 fewer pieces of paper each month!"
