Join the Parti:
Become a volunteer for the
2006 Tim Hortons Brier

Parti Gras is coming to Regina, and now is your chance to join in the fun and help Saskatchewan host the biggest party in Canada in 2006 - The Tim Hortons Brier.

Approximately 1,200 volunteers will be needed to stage the 2006 Tim Hortons Brier March 11 - 19, 2006 at Regina's Agridome. The 2006 Tim Hortons Brier will showcase the country's top men's curling teams, and will feature top-notch entertainment in a new 90,000 square foot Multi-Purpose Facility that will house the largest Brier Patch in Brier history. To help stage the party, the 2006 Regina Host Committee has officially begun their call for volunteers.

"Regina has an excellent record of hosting successful major curling events thanks to the support of our volunteer community. I know the people of Regina and area will again help us in putting on an event that we will all be proud of," said Del Jones, Vice-President of Volunteers for the 2006 Tim Hortons Brier and Parti Gras.

"There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers such as information booths, security or selling programs. Of course, with a 6,900 seat Brier Patch and a 2,400 seat Purple Heart Lounge, we will require a large number of bartenders and servers as well."

The 2006 Regina Host Committee also announced that SaskEnergy, the province's Champion of Volunteers, has joined the 2006 Tim Hortons Brier as Official Sponsor of Volunteers.

"SaskEnergy will continue our tradition of supporting volunteers whose dedication ensures events like the Tim Hortons Brier come to our province," said Leslie Gosselin, Manager of Community Relations and Advertising, SaskEnergy. "When 1,200 Saskatchewan volunteers step forward to give their time and energy here in Regina, the Canadian Curling Association knows from experience they can count on excellence. SaskEnergy is proud to champion these volunteers who will, undoubtedly, be the secret to success for the 2006 Brier."

"There are many benefits of volunteering for the 2006 Tim Hortons Brier," added Jones. "Along with being a part of the biggest party in Canada, everyone who is accepted as a volunteer will receive a Volunteer Reward Package which includes benefits such as access to the Brier Patch and Purple Heart Lounge, as well as an article of clothing."

To receive the Volunteer Reward Package, accepted volunteers are required to pay a $50.00 or a $100.00 Volunteer Reward Package Fee with benefits varying depending on the assignment. Depending on the response from volunteers, all applications may not be required. Selection of volunteers will be made by October 1, 2005.
