1966 Grey Cup Charity Calendar Launched
What is destined to be a collectors' item for
die-hard fans of the Green and White was launched today with the first-ever
Saskatchewan Roughriders 2006-07 Commemorative '66 Grey Cup Charity Calendar
going on sale.
This limited edition calendar features a special
40th anniversary tribute to legendary Roughriders Ron Lancaster, George Reed and
the other members of the 1966 Grey Cup winning team. The calendar, available at
the Rider Store and on-line through Riderville.com is SaskEnergy's latest
fundraiser for KidSport™ Saskatchewan.
"While continuing the tradition of raising funds
for KidSport™, this first-ever calendar of its kind also honours Saskatchewan's
fine football tradition," said Doug Kelln, President and CEO, SaskEnergy. "This
calendar will bring back memories for anyone who has followed the team over the
years and helps tell the proud story of Saskatchewan's team."
All proceeds from the Saskatchewan Roughriders
Commemorative 2007 Charity Calendar will go to KidSport™, as well as amateur
football in the province.
Only 1000 of these calendars will be offered for
sale. SaskEnergy, KidSport™ Saskatchewan, Football Saskatchewan and the
Saskatchewan Roughriders will be releasing a new 2007 Saskatchewan Roughrider
calendar this fall for those who miss out on this special commemorative edition.
"KidSport™ provides financial assistance to help
kids overcome the social and economic barriers preventing or limiting their
participation in community sport programs" said Don McDougall, Chair of
KidSport™ Saskatchewan. "Through sport, children learn life-long skills such as
teamwork, goal setting and confidence. However, without the assistance of
corporate sponsors, such as SaskEnergy and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the
generous support of the people of Saskatchewan, KidSport™ would not be able to
ensure that all kids can play!."
Since 1998, SaskEnergy has teamed up with the
Roughriders to raise almost $225,000 for KidSport™ Saskatchewan and help more
than 3,100 less fortunate kids participate in community sports programs across
