For the first time ever, the Vanier Cup will be played in Regina and SaskEnergy will be the Official Volunteer Sponsor for the U Sports national football championship.

The 2025 Vanier Cup will be hosted by the University of Regina on Saturday, November 22 at Mosaic Stadium.

“We are proud to be the Champion of Volunteers for the Vanier Cup — a national event that will be hosted in Regina for the first time,” says Allix Schweitzer, SaskEnergy's Supervisor of Community Engagement. “The event aligns perfectly with our 25th anniversary of the Champion of Volunteers program, which provides support for the many volunteers who help make programs and events happen in Saskatchewan.”

Each year, the Vanier Cup features the top two university football teams in Canada competing for the national championship. The event has only been hosted in Western Canada twice previously — 2006 in Saskatoon and 2011 in Vancouver.

There will be 150 volunteers needed to make the Vanier Cup possible, helping with a variety of tasks, including event setup, guest services, game day operations and more.

In our role as the Official Volunteer Sponsor, SaskEnergy will provide support for the volunteers and will sponsor a Volunteer Champion Award, which will be presented to a dedicated and deserving Vanier Cup volunteer.

“Our province is renowned for its unparalleled volunteer spirit, and SaskEnergy is proud to support these community efforts,” says Allix.
