Most Meters Send Readings Automatically
Most of our natural gas meters provide meter reads automatically. You don’t need to submit a monthly meter read. From time to time, we may ask you to provide a manual meter read for the following reasons:
- To confirm your gas consumption if your bill is higher or lower than the average
- To rule out communication or network issues
- If you are moving in or out of a property
- If you have a legacy meter that is not connected to the network
Submitting a Meter Read
There are two ways to submit a meter read:
1. Online Account: Sign in and go to the contact us page
2. Customer Support: Submit through the online form or call 1-800-567-8899
Information to Include
Online Account
- Name
- Address
- Date of meter read
- Meter read details
If you choose to upload a photo of the meter, ensure both the meter number and the dials or screen are included in the photo. You can find the meter number on the black and silver SaskEnergy badge or near the Cust # symbol on the Sonix IQ model.
Customer Support
- First and last name
- Meter number
- Meter read details
- Date of meter read

Tips on How to Read the Meter
Odometer Meter
- Starting from the left, read each number as displayed on the odometer - just as you would in your car
Dial Meter
- Starting from the right, mark the exact position of the hands on the dials
- If the hand is between two numbers, choose the lowest number for your reading
- If the hand is exactly on a number, look at the dial to the right. If the dial on the right has NOT passed zero, then record the lower number for the dial on the left
SonixIQ Meter
- Starting from the left, read each number as displayed on the digital screen
