Reliable natural gas service a year-round effort at SaskEnergy
Brrrrr it’s cold in here! Luckily, there’s a quick fix! With the simple press of a button on your thermostat you’ll soon be nice and toasty. That was the case for many of SaskEnergy’s customers in February, as they used 36 per cent more gas than they did for the same month in 2024. While we didn’t set a new “peak day” record this winter, February’s daily average for natural gas delivered in the province was the second highest on record. While turning up your thermostat might feel like hitting the easy button, it takes year-round planning and maintenance from teams across SaskEnergy to make...

SaskEnergy sets new daily natural gas usage record
Extreme cold weather across Saskatchewan this past week resulted in record-breaking natural gas demand in the province. The peak demand was on January 12 with a natural gas consumption rate of 1.70 petajoules per day (PJ/d). This surpasses the previous record of 1.65 PJ/d reported two years ago on January 6, 2022. “Natural gas is essential for Saskatchewan residents as we heat our homes and businesses during the coldest days of winter,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. “As a result of our government’s decision to remove the carbon tax from home heating, Saskatchewan...
SaskEnergy supports community safety through cleanup events
For several years running, SaskEnergy employees have volunteered their time to support annual community cleanups in Regina and Yorkton. In Regina on May 11, SaskEnergy pitched in at the North Central Community Association (NCCA)’s annual community cleanup to help make the central Regina neighbourhood a bit cleaner and safer. More than 20 employees and their family members assisted in filling nine oversized garbage bins with difficult-to-dispose items. These included tires, scrap metal, mattresses, furniture, appliances and yard debris. Meanwhile, the NCCA enlisted a group of young people to...

Soaked But Strong: Volunteers Brave the Rain to Help Clean Up
Every year, the North Central Community Association organizes a clean-up to help get rid of garbage and large items in the inner-city neighbourhood before winter arrives. This year, the clean-up faced a new challenge — heavy rain, but that didn’t stop volunteers from showing up and doing their part. “The rain was constant during the clean-up, but things still went well,” says Misty-Lee Bird, a SaskEnergy employee who helped out along with her partner Jamey. “People in North Central don’t always have a way to get rid of big items, so even though we were soaked, it felt good to help.” Volunteers...
