Federal Carbon Tax

Carbon charges and your SaskEnergy bill As part of the federal government’s carbon pricing system, a Federal Carbon Tax applies to all fossil fuels, including natural gas, and is calculated based on the amount you use. Federal Carbon Charge Amendment As of April 1, 2025, SaskEnergy’s residential and commercial customer classes will receive a zero charge for the Federal Carbon Tax on natural gas delivered from that date. This is the result of the Federal Government’s amendments to its regulations reducing the carbon charge under Part I of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act to zero. Have...

Our Roadmap to 35% by 2030

Reducing our emissions from operations by 35% by 2030 In 2020-21, we set a target to reduce our emissions from operations by 35 per cent, from 2019 levels, by 2030. SaskEnergy’s operational emissions include those from our natural gas system as well as company-owned vehicles, and emissions related to heating and powering our offices and facilities. Planning a Dig Project

Follow a safe work plan Planning ahead is the first step to ensuring a successful outdoor project. Understanding the work area and the location of underground utility lines can save you time, money and help you avoid a dangerous situation. It’s your responsibility to ensure you are not digging or encroaching on natural gas facilities. Hitting a natural gas line, or creating an obstruction that doesn’t allow us to quickly access the gas line, can put you and your community at serious risk. Steps to Follow 1. Mark the Area Mark your project area with white flags, paint, chalk or surveyors tape...

Rekindling long-ago customer connection a career highlight for employee

A quarter century ago, our construction crews were a main attraction for children spending their summers at Kenosee Provincial Park. SaskEnergy employees worked for several summers to extend gas service to cabins in the area in the late 1990s. “Some kids, you couldn’t get rid of them. They’re pointing and looking; the parents want to go, but the kids want to stay and see us work,” says Dale Staudt, a Crew Lead with our southern Saskatchewan Construction team. “We would stop and explain what we were doing and show them. We’d stand back with the parent and watch one of our guys dig. For a small...
