Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week to Help Residents Stay Safe

The Government of Saskatchewan is recognizing November 1-7 as Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Week to highlight the importance of CO safety and educate residents about prevention measures, something that is top of mind for Garth Kalin of Prince Albert. It was early in the morning on a cold winter’s day that Kalin woke up to the loud sounds of his carbon monoxide alarms. Little did he know, he and his family were at risk of succumbing to severe CO poisoning in as little as one hour had the alarms not alerted him to the danger. The cause was CO buildup in his furnace room. “Carbon monoxide alarms...

Indigenous artists share their culture through two new SaskEnergy projects

First Nations artists Tim Neal and Jade Roberts have shared their talent and expertise with SaskEnergy through two recent projects. Their artwork will appear across Saskatchewan on SaskEnergy billboards, advertisements, social media and at events. We are proud to showcase their work while we connect with Indigenous communities. Tim’s designs include a new version of SaskEnergy’s logo and other images. These show scenes from nature aligned with the sacred elements — fire, water, earth and air. “Having an actual designer or the artwork being done by First Nations provides a ton of cultural...

They wanted to begin a pipeline replacement project, occurring within village limits, with care and respect. Elder Calvin and his team from Fox Valley Counselling led a pipe ceremony for the group alongside the South Saskatchewan River — an important area to Indigenous and Métis communities. The ceremony took place near the buffalo monument in St. Louis, which holds deep cultural meaning. “We’re learning to recognize the importance of the land through...
