SaskEnergy proud to sponsor Fireside with Lyndon for another season

Several times a year, Remai Modern in Saskatoon fills with an audience curious to participate in an evening that stewards Indigenous engagement and honours Indigenous communities and groups with openness, transparency and dialogue. The event, known as Fireside with Lyndon, presented by SaskEnergy, is an intergenerational and cross-disciplinary program regarded as a unique opportunity for in-depth and sometimes challenging conversations. “We are delighted to once again be part of this Indigenous speaker series,” says Joseph Daniels, SaskEnergy’s Director of Indigenous Engagement. “At SaskEnergy...

SaskEnergy wins three CGA Awards for Environmental Stewardship

Sustainability is at the core of what we do at SaskEnergy, and we were honoured to receive three Environmental Stewardship Awards from the Canadian Gas Association (CGA) in recognition of our efforts. Two of the awards were for Innovation in Emissions Reduction, and one was for Operating Practices. “These important projects are proof of our commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship. They also contribute to our goal to reduce emissions from operations by 35 per cent by 2030,” says Mark Guillet, SaskEnergy’s Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. CGA Environmental...

Weyburn staff “fit the bill” in caring for nesting duck

In early May, a female Mallard was spotted waddling into the bushes outside SaskEnergy’s customer service office in Weyburn. Later that day, when our staff went to see if the duck was still in the bushes, they discovered a nest with four eggs! Before long, four eggs became 10. The female Mallard — lovingly named Daisy by SaskEnergy’s Weyburn employees — and her nest became a fixture both at work and at home. After the nest was discovered, staff members contacted Ducks Unlimited to ask how they could be respectful of Daisy’s nest and keep her and her eggs safe. They also asked the organization...

SaskEnergy funds carbon capture at Regina Airport

SaskEnergy and the Regina Airport Authority (RAA) are piloting the use of new technology in Saskatchewan that could reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the main heating system at the Regina International Airport (YQR) by about 20 per cent, helping the RAA to achieve its environmental goals. A CarbinX small-scale carbon-capture device, manufactured by Calgary-based CleanO2, has been installed in the mechanical room of YQR’s Air Terminal Building. About $40,000 in SaskEnergy funding covered the cost and delivery of the unit and will also pay for independent measurement and verification to...

SaskEnergy is celebrating 25 years of being Saskatchewan’s Champion of Volunteers. With that, many of our employees are renewing their commitment to making an impact in the community. In February, a team of SaskEnergy employees volunteered at the Regina Food Bank. “It feels good to help such an impactful organization. When SaskEnergy employees volunteer with these community staples, we can really amplify our impact and demonstrate our company’s commitment to the communities we live and work in,” says employee Daniel Dietrich. The group volunteered in the Food Bank’s warehouse, sorting and...

One group that received help last year is the Homeplate Shelter Coalition Corp. in Meadow Lake, which runs a shelter for people who don’t have a safe place to stay during the cold winter months. “One of our biggest challenges is securing the funds needed to operate the emergency shelter during the coldest months,” says Joanne Gislason, Board Chair of ML Homeplate Shelter Coalition Corp. “The Share the Warmth funding from SaskEnergy made a meaningful difference in our...

Volunteers Help Make Canoe Kayak Nationals a Success in Regina

Colourful canoes and kayaks, all lined up and ready to race, filled the south side of Wascana Lake at the end of August for the 2025 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships. These championships drew more than 900 athletes from all over Canada to Regina. With so many athletes and races, it was all hands on deck to help the event run smoothly. That’s where more than 200 volunteers came in. “This event definitely could not happen without volunteers,” says Nathan Wilson, a member of the host organizing committee. “There can be up to 17 boats on the water at once, so we need people to help...
