Combination of learning and fun caps off co-op student’s time at SaskEnergy

You never know what you can experience during a one-year co-op term with SaskEnergy. From job shadowing opportunities and tours to discovering a passion for volunteerism, Zahra Hosseinmardi experienced a lot in her time at SaskEnergy. And that’s all on top of the valuable job experience she received with our Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team! “I'm really thankful for all the opportunities I have received at SaskEnergy,” says Zahra. “The people have been friendly, supportive and willing to help me with anything. The experience was meaningful for me.” During her time with our EIM team...

SaskEnergy co-op students learn, grow and thrive

Starting a co-op term can feel exciting — and a little intimidating. At SaskEnergy, we make sure students feel supported from day one and give them real-world experience to help build confidence. Brylee Jeffries’s eight-month term with our Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team is coming to a close and she’s leaving with skills and experiences that go far beyond her experience in EIM. “At first, I was nervous because everything was new,” Brylee says. “But over time, I learned to be comfortable asking questions and trusting myself to figure things out.” While Brylee’s primary role during...

Serving the community at Saskatoon’s Friendship Inn

Every day, the Saskatoon Friendship Inn welcomes people who need a hot meal, a safe place to go and a sense of community. As more people turn to the organization for help, volunteers play an important role in supporting its work. Recently, six SaskEnergy employees spent an afternoon volunteering at the Friendship Inn. They helped with the busy lunch service and donated food and personal care items. The Friendship Inn serves hot, nutritious meals every day of the year, providing up to 2,000 meals daily. During busy meal times, volunteers help prepare and serve food, clean tables and keep the...

Safety events prepare students in Tisdale and Melville for future workplaces

What substance is added to natural gas to give it an odour? What does it smell like? Students got the answers to these questions and more as part of Cade Sprackman Safety Day events that took place in Tisdale and Melville during May. Members of SaskEnergy’s Operations team attended the events and had a station set up as part of an “Amazing Safety Quest.” The quest taught students about safety in a variety of industries in the province, so they are prepared before starting their careers. Operations Managers Elmer Hollinger and Trent Cousins attended the Safety Day event in Melville on May 29....

Share the Warmth Days bring communities together across Saskatchewan

At the end of January, on a cold and windy winter day, SaskEnergy kicked off this year’s Share the Warmth Days in Regina. The chilly weather made it the perfect time to offer warm drinks, essential winter items, and friendly smiles to people passing by. “Being able to offer a warm cup of coffee, along with essential items, while wishing someone a great day was incredibly powerful,” says Zahra Hosseinmardi, a SaskEnergy employee who volunteered at the Regina event. This is the second year of Share the Warmth Days, an initiative that highlights the important work of local organizations that...

Building relationships and natural gas lines with the Peter Chapman Band

In many Indigenous cultures a pipe ceremony symbolizes unity, peace and a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Since early 2022, these ceremonies have become commonplace during SaskEnergy gas line construction projects. “A pipe ceremony is really about connection and prayer. For example, at SaskEnergy when we have these ceremonies as part of our construction projects, we’re asking for the safety of our personnel, we’re asking for a successful project and we’re also asking for forgiveness for disturbing the land, for disturbing Mother Earth,” explains Joseph Daniels, Director...
