Variety of programs and services benefit SaskEnergy customers
Our First Nations Furnace Replacement Rebate program is just one of many ways SaskEnergy is helping our customers. This was one of several programs we introduced in 2023-24, which are highlighted in our annual report. Yellow Quill First Nation in east-central Saskatchewan is benefiting from this rebate program. New high-efficiency natural gas furnaces are being installed at more than 40 homes. This is helping residents reduce emissions and costs. “For years, the issue of furnaces needing replacement has been a concern for our community. This SaskEnergy rebate really helped,” says Darrell...

Reliable natural gas service a year-round effort at SaskEnergy
Brrrrr it’s cold in here! Luckily, there’s a quick fix! With the simple press of a button on your thermostat you’ll soon be nice and toasty. That was the case for many of SaskEnergy’s customers in February, as they used 36 per cent more gas than they did for the same month in 2024. While we didn’t set a new “peak day” record this winter, February’s daily average for natural gas delivered in the province was the second highest on record. While turning up your thermostat might feel like hitting the easy button, it takes year-round planning and maintenance from teams across SaskEnergy to make...

System upgrades resulting in lower emissions
At SaskEnergy, we are committed to reducing emissions from our operations by 35 per cent by 2030. A lot of the work to achieve this goal involves technological upgrades to our system through three focus areas — vent gas reduction, optimization and renewable electricity. New systems We are designing and installing new flare systems at our stations across Saskatchewan, to cut down the amount of gas that is vented through our operations. Flare systems are regularly shown on TV news, or you may have noticed them while driving by – a flame coming from the top of a tall thin pipe at a SaskEnergy...
Catching more (Ar)rays with additional solar power installations
In early 2023, SaskEnergy’s first net-metering solar installation at Town Border Station (TBS) 1 in southwest Regina began generating electricity from the 176 solar panels installed on site. Fast forward to today, and we now have eight sites with large-scale solar arrays capable of generating power! These installations are a vital part of our Roadmap to 35 Per Cent by 2030, which includes integrating more renewable energy into our operations. “As part of our Roadmap we're focused on reducing both our direct emissions from our operations and our indirect emissions related to electricity...

7 things you need to know about CO alarms
We’ve teamed up with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) and Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) to let you know about the crucial need for carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. Why? Because having a working CO alarm in your home could save your life, and the lives of those you love. Last year, SaskEnergy responded to over 1,500 CO calls. With a CO alarm, you will have early warning protection against the dangers of the invisible, odourless gas that is often referred to as the "silent killer." 1. You need them (it’s the law) “CO alarms are not just a smart choice, but a...
