Hands-on training key for SaskEnergy's Operations Technicians

SaskEnergy's Operations Technicians don't have “customer service” in their job titles, but it's still an important part of their daily work! “My favourite thing about this role is working with customers and answering their questions,” says Operations Technician Jordan Bergsveinson. A former SaskEnergy Customer Service Representative, Jordan is partway through her Operations Technician Qualifying Position (OTQP) training program. Located in communities across the province, Technicians support the daily operation of SaskEnergy’s natural gas system. From installing new services, to emergency...

SaskEnergy supports community safety through cleanup events

For several years running, SaskEnergy employees have volunteered their time to support annual community cleanups in Regina and Yorkton. In Regina on May 11, SaskEnergy pitched in at the North Central Community Association (NCCA)’s annual community cleanup to help make the central Regina neighbourhood a bit cleaner and safer. More than 20 employees and their family members assisted in filling nine oversized garbage bins with difficult-to-dispose items. These included tires, scrap metal, mattresses, furniture, appliances and yard debris. Meanwhile, the NCCA enlisted a group of young people to...

‘The key message is safety’: SaskEnergy provides training to volunteer fire fighters

It’s important to SaskEnergy that when a volunteer fire department responds to an emergency that involves natural gas, they feel prepared and confident in keeping the situation safe. That’s why, for two decades, SaskEnergy has supported the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association (SVFFA) by providing training and sponsorship support. The latest round of training came at this spring’s SVFFA fire school in Melville, where firefighters were provided with information on how to respond to a natural gas-related emergency. Attending the fire school to provide the training were SaskEnergy...

Reliable natural gas service a year-round effort at SaskEnergy

Brrrrr it’s cold in here! Luckily, there’s a quick fix! With the simple press of a button on your thermostat you’ll soon be nice and toasty. That was the case for many of SaskEnergy’s customers in February, as they used 36 per cent more gas than they did for the same month in 2024. While we didn’t set a new “peak day” record this winter, February’s daily average for natural gas delivered in the province was the second highest on record. While turning up your thermostat might feel like hitting the easy button, it takes year-round planning and maintenance from teams across SaskEnergy to make...

SaskEnergy PDRs are up for a challenge

SaskEnergy Planning and Dispatch Representatives (PDRs) help coordinate daily activities and support emergency response for our Operations teams across the province. No two days are the same, which is why they all have one thing in common — they work well under pressure! “A good PDR is adaptable, communicates well, and has the ability to stay calm when things shift quickly,” says Planning & Dispatch Representative Breanna Cattell who works at SaskEnergy’s Regina Service Centre. “You have to be able to reprioritize in real time without losing your footing.” “Within the PDR roles there are a...

The Fireside with Lyndon conversation series is about sharing stories that build understanding, like the opening event for the 2026 season where Inuk actor, filmmaker and cultural advocate Lucy Tulugarjuk joined host Lyndon J. Linklater to explore how language and storytelling help keep culture strong. These kinds of thoughtful, story based conversations are what define the Fireside with Lyndon series and keep audiences coming back. “Supporting the Fireside with Lyndon series reflects SaskEnergy’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation,” says Joseph Daniels, Director of Indigenous Engagement at...

The many paths of an engineer at SaskEnergy

“I've always been curious about how things work,” says Devin Bear – Manager of Pipeline Integrity & Reliability. “I was drawn to engineering because it provided practical ways to solve real-world problems using science and math.” That curiosity led Devin to SaskEnergy. After completing degrees in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering, he began exploring the many engineering opportunities SaskEnergy has to offer. SaskEnergy co-op students learn, grow and thrive

Starting a co-op term can feel exciting — and a little intimidating. At SaskEnergy, we make sure students feel supported from day one and give them real-world experience to help build confidence. Brylee Jeffries’s eight-month term with our Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team is coming to a close and she’s leaving with skills and experiences that go far beyond her experience in EIM. “At first, I was nervous because everything was new,” Brylee says. “But over time, I learned to be comfortable asking questions and trusting myself to figure things out.” While Brylee’s primary role during...
