SaskEnergy is celebrating 25 years of being Saskatchewan’s Champion of Volunteers. With that, many of our employees are renewing their commitment to making an impact in the community. In February, a team of SaskEnergy employees volunteered at the Regina Food Bank. “It feels good to help such an impactful organization. When SaskEnergy employees volunteer with these community staples, we can really amplify our impact and demonstrate our company’s commitment to the communities we live and work in,” says employee Daniel Dietrich. The group volunteered in the Food Bank’s warehouse, sorting and...

Vegetation management part of safety and being a good neighbour!

Vegetation management may sound like a fancy way to describe mowing your lawn and pulling weeds. RIIS cemetery visitors now have a place to sit and reflect

Four new benches now offer visitors a place to sit and reflect at the Regina Indian Industrial School (RIIS) cemetery in west Regina. Approximately 38 children are buried in this cemetery, in unmarked graves. Today, the site serves as a place of remembrance. Families, survivors and community members visit and honour the children who never returned home. The RIIS Commemorative Association works to preserve the site’s history. It helps create opportunities for reflection, learning and healing. To support those efforts, SaskEnergy donated four commemorative benches. SaskEnergy’s connection to the...

Soaked but strong: volunteers brave the rain to help clean up

Every year, the North Central Community Association organizes a clean-up to help get rid of garbage and large items in the inner-city neighbourhood before winter arrives. This year, the clean-up faced a new challenge — heavy rain, but that didn’t stop volunteers from showing up and doing their part. “The rain was constant during the clean-up, but things still went well,” says Misty-Lee Bird, a SaskEnergy employee who helped out along with her partner Jamey. “People in North Central don’t always have a way to get rid of big items, so even though we were soaked, it felt good to help.” Volunteers...

For Jeanna Kozan, a SaskEnergy employee who visited the school during the delivery, one moment in particular stood out. “One of the children we met was very quiet and shy at first,” Jeanna says. “But as soon as he found a book that interested him, he grabbed it, sat down, and...
