Demonstrating the Champion of Volunteers spirit at the Regina Food Bank

SaskEnergy is celebrating 25 years of being Saskatchewan’s Champion of Volunteers. With that, many of our employees are renewing their commitment to making an impact in the community. In February, a team of SaskEnergy employees volunteered at the Regina Food Bank. “It feels good to help such an impactful organization. When SaskEnergy employees volunteer with these community staples, we can really amplify our impact and demonstrate our company’s commitment to the communities we live and work in,” says employee Daniel Dietrich. Building relationships and natural gas lines with the Peter Chapman Band

In many Indigenous cultures a pipe ceremony symbolizes unity, peace and a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Since early 2022, these ceremonies have become commonplace during SaskEnergy gas line construction projects. “A pipe ceremony is really about connection and prayer. For example, at SaskEnergy when we have these ceremonies as part of our construction projects, we’re asking for the safety of our personnel, we’re asking for a successful project and we’re also asking for forgiveness for disturbing the land, for disturbing Mother Earth,” explains Joseph Daniels, Director...

Soaked but strong: volunteers brave the rain to help clean up

Every year, the North Central Community Association organizes a clean-up to help get rid of garbage and large items in the inner-city neighbourhood before winter arrives. This year, the clean-up faced a new challenge — heavy rain, but that didn’t stop volunteers from showing up and doing their part. “The rain was constant during the clean-up, but things still went well,” says Misty-Lee Bird, a SaskEnergy employee who helped out along with her partner Jamey. “People in North Central don’t always have a way to get rid of big items, so even though we were soaked, it felt good to help.” Volunteers...

‘A team effort for a great cause’: SaskEnergy employees support the Swift Current Food Bank

Employees from SaskEnergy’s Swift Current office have once again stepped up to help families in need in their community. For more than a decade, they have been carrying on a tradition of supporting the local Salvation Army food bank. “It’s a team effort for a great cause,” says Mike Rossiter, General Manager of Operations in the Southwest Area. “In the fall, we put a call out to our Operations and Customer Service team members, and they come through every year.” In addition to employee donations, SaskEnergy provided a $200 grant to purchase items for the food bank.
