The role of Gas Control in providing reliable energy for customers

SaskEnergy maintains nearly 90,000 kilometres of gas lines, including our transmission lines that connect to Alberta, Manitoba and the United States. This is how we import gas and transport it across the province to our customers. With a system that is more than 99.99 per cent reliable, our customers can count on us to provide the energy they need to heat their homes and run their businesses. Having the right amount of gas in place where and when customers need it is part of this reliability. Throughout the day and night, our Gas Control team keeps a close eye on our system and predicts where...

Share the Warmth’s impact felt across Saskatchewan

As cold weather returns to Saskatchewan, SaskEnergy is helping people stay warm — the Share the Warmth grant program is back. One group that received help last year is the Homeplate Shelter Coalition Corp. in Meadow Lake, which runs a shelter for people who don’t have a safe place to stay during the cold winter months. “One of our biggest challenges is securing the funds needed to operate the emergency shelter during the coldest months,” says Joanne Gislason, Board Chair of ML Homeplate Shelter Coalition Corp. “The Share the Warmth funding from SaskEnergy made a meaningful difference in our...

Alarm Saves Regina Couple from Carbon Monoxide

Jim and Linda Dickenson decorate their heritage home to draw people from across Regina to be spooked there on Halloween night. But they were the ones to get a serious scare at home one summer evening. A colourless, odourless, and tasteless poison was drifting up from their basement and lingering near their second-floor bedroom, one that, over time, could send them to hospital — or even worse. Jim’s phone rang, surprising them while they watched a loud action movie. They were up on the third floor of their home that warm, dark evening. Their security company was calling. A presence had been...

Gas Meter Safety

Stay safe and sound, above and below ground. Keep the area around the gas meter on your property clear, ensuring that SaskEnergy and emergency responders can access it easily and safely at all times. Protect the meter: Covering or altering the meter can cause it to stop working or malfunction, and can prevent access to it in an emergency situation. Using the meter to hang hoses, leashes or ropes causes wear and tear on the gas meter. Leaning objects against the meter like bikes or bins can make it difficult for SaskEnergy and its authorized contractors to respond quickly during an emergency...
