Every day, the Regina Food Bank helps about 500 families — and that number keeps growing. During the holiday season, the need is even greater, making extra help from volunteers essential. Colourful canoes and kayaks, all lined up and ready to race, filled the south side of Wascana Lake at the end of August for the 2025 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships. These championships drew more than 900 athletes from all over Canada to Regina. With so many athletes and races, it was all hands on deck to help the event run smoothly. In April 2025, SaskEnergy completed work on our eighth solar array installation, two years after the first large-scale solar power system was installed at one of our Town Border Stations in Regina. Many people in Regina were a little warmer, happier and healthier this holiday season thanks to the generous support of SaskEnergy staff. “This is the time of year to reflect on what is really important in life and to highlight the importance of giving, especially to those who need it most,” says SaskEnergy employee Wendi Frederick. In early December, Wendi led a campaign to build feminine hygiene kits to donate to various organizations in Regina and quickly found support from her coworkers. In early 2023, SaskEnergy’s first net-metering solar installation at Town Border Station (TBS) 1 in southwest Regina began generating electricity from the 176 solar panels installed on site. Fast forward to today, and we now have eight sites with large-scale solar arrays capable of generating power!
