Students from the Grade 6 class at Leader Composite School had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of preserving Saskatchewan’s Southwest Sandhills. Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) hosted a tour of the Sandhills Cave Pasture, which allowed the students to explore the area, discovering the many animals, insects and plants that call it home. On a sunny day in June, a team of SaskEnergy employees met with an Indigenous Elder, consultants, and the Mayor of St. Louis, Saskatchewan. They wanted to begin a pipeline replacement project, occurring within village limits, with care and respect. Raising a tipi is about more than building a shelter. This was one of many lessons learned by teams in the Glen Anaquod Tipi Raising Competition.
