New natural gas line installation in downtown Regina

If you live or work near downtown Regina, you may have noticed SaskEnergy crews working near 13th Avenue and Broad Street this summer. Coordinating with City of Regina work to minimize disruptions, SaskEnergy’s Construction team has been installing a new natural gas main along 13th Avenue, from Hamilton Street to St. John Street, replacing one that runs under the back alley south of Victoria Avenue. “This work is part of our planned system integrity work,” explains Jason Stoudt, Construction Manager. “Projects such as this are critical to help maintain safe and reliable service for our...

As SaskEnergy progresses on its 2030 emissions reduction goal, it also continues to increase the reach of its energy efficiency programs, which assist Saskatchewan homeowners and businesses in reducing energy usage, saving money, and decreasing end-use emissions. Highlighted in its 2022-23 Sustainability Report, released today, SaskEnergy invested an additional $1 million in its energy efficiency programs during 2022-23, providing residential and commercial customers with rebates to purchase high-efficiency heating equipment. Through these programs, customers reduced their annual energy...

Our Roadmap to 35% by 2030

Reducing our emissions from operations by 35% by 2030 In 2020-21, we set a target to reduce our emissions from operations by 35 per cent, from 2019 levels, by 2030. SaskEnergy’s operational emissions include those from our natural gas system as well as company-owned vehicles, and emissions related to heating and powering our offices and facilities. We are now halfway toward achieving this goal. Our roadmap SaskEnergy has three priority areas to align projects and activities that address our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 1. Santa Stores Bring Holiday Magic to Saskatchewan Schools

This holiday season, SaskEnergy employees helped bring joy to classrooms across Saskatchewan through our annual Santa Store initiative. These pop-up stores give kids the chance to pick out gifts for their family members while learning the joy of giving. At St. Raphael Community School in Regina, volunteers set up tables overflowing with gift items donated by SaskEnergy employees. “It’s really impressive the amount of support SaskEnergy employees provide every Santa Store,” says employee Carter Henderson, who was volunteering for the first time at a Santa Store. “We had three full truckloads of...

Tipi-raising competition delivers lessons about work and life

Raising a tipi is about more than building a shelter. This was one of many lessons learned by teams in the Glen Anaquod Tipi Raising Competition. Four teams from SaskEnergy joined others from the community at the University of Regina in late September to take part in the annual event. The event was started in 2008 by Glen Anaquod, an Elder from Muscowpetung First Nation, to bring cultures together and share teachings in a kind and loving way. “It is a competition. But the day is about participating in Indigenous culture, team building and most important, having fun,” says Sharla Sparvier...

New high-efficiency natural gas furnaces are being installed at more than 40 homes. This is helping residents reduce emissions and costs. “For years, the issue of furnaces needing replacement has been a concern for our community.
