Before you dig: what you need to know about landscaping and line locates

Spring has arrived and many people across Saskatchewan are getting ready to start yard and landscaping projects. Whether you’re building a fence, planting trees, or adding a deck, it’s important to take one key step before you dig: request a line locate. In 2025, landscaping projects were among the leading causes of underground line hits for homeowners and landowners. Incidents most often involved larger equipment, such as excavators and backhoes, but hand tools also caused damage. “Any project that disturbs the ground requires a line locate,” says Sheena Nabozniak, SaskEnergy’s Manager of...

Safety events prepare students in Tisdale and Melville for future workplaces

What substance is added to natural gas to give it an odour? What does it smell like? Students got the answers to these questions and more as part of Cade Sprackman Safety Day events that took place in Tisdale and Melville during May. Members of SaskEnergy’s Operations team attended the events and had a station set up as part of an “Amazing Safety Quest.” The quest taught students about safety in a variety of industries in the province, so they are prepared before starting their careers. Solar power is lightening our emissions from operations

After a full year of generating power, the large-scale solar installation at SaskEnergy’s Town Border Station (TBS) 1 in south Regina has proven to be a shining success! SaskEnergy’s first renewable electricity system began generating power in April 2023. In its first full year of operation, the TBS 1 solar panels performed even better than expected! “The system was sized according to that site’s annual power consumption, so we expected that the station’s net electrical usage would balance to zero,” says Trevor Ficor, an Engineer-in-Training with our Emissions Management team. Share the Warmth Days bring communities together across Saskatchewan

At the end of January, on a cold and windy winter day, SaskEnergy kicked off this year’s Share the Warmth Days in Regina. The chilly weather made it the perfect time to offer warm drinks, essential winter items, and friendly smiles to people passing by. “Being able to offer a warm cup of coffee, along with essential items, while wishing someone a great day was incredibly powerful,” says Zahra Hosseinmardi, a SaskEnergy employee who volunteered at the Regina event.
