Many people in Regina were a little warmer, happier and healthier this holiday season thanks to the generous support of SaskEnergy staff. “This is the time of year to reflect on what is really important in life and to highlight the importance of giving, especially to those who need it most,” says SaskEnergy employee Wendi Frederick. SaskEnergy completes investigation into Prud’homme cavern wellhead fire; decommissions affected underground storage cavern

SaskEnergy has completed the investigation into the October 2014 gas release and fire at its Prud’homme natural gas storage facility east of Saskatoon. The nine-day incident began October 11 th, 2014 at one of the seven underground natural gas storage caverns at the facility. No one was hurt in the incident, and no service was lost to any residential, business or industrial customer. The gas release was safely contained on October 17th with the installation of a new wellhead; safety testing and site clearance were completed two days later. SaskEnergy has received reports that individuals claiming to be from SaskEnergy are contacting customers, threatening disconnection of their natural gas service unless a bill payment is made within 30 minutes. The callers are telling customers to pay their most recent bill in a number of ways, including cash or Bitcoin. Calls have been reported in Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Duck Lake, and Gull Lake.
