Building relationships with the people we serve

Ever wonder how new homes, cabins or businesses get connected to our natural gas system? SaskEnergy’s Customer Connect Technicians (CCTs) are instrumental to this process. Adam Colvine works as a CCT in Saskatoon and the surrounding rural area. He personally sees customers’ connection process through from start to finish, to make it as easy as possible to get service. “A highlight of the job is getting to know people, and hearing their stories of how and why they’re building their dream home or cabin. Flooding

Preparing for a Flood If you suspect any natural gas appliances might become submerged from flood water or sewer back-up, consider following these steps: Hire a licensed gas contractor to ‘shut off’ the gas at the supply valve to natural gas appliances that may be affected. Relocate appliances to a dry location by raising them above potential water levels, to upper floors or other suitable storage areas. Have your contractor cap and properly seal the gas pipe ends (appliance gas supply line) to all affected appliances to prevent water from entering the piping system. Shut off the electrical...

Building relationships and natural gas lines with the Peter Chapman Band

In many Indigenous cultures a pipe ceremony symbolizes unity, peace and a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Since early 2022, these ceremonies have become commonplace during SaskEnergy gas line construction projects. “A pipe ceremony is really about connection and prayer. For example, at SaskEnergy when we have these ceremonies as part of our construction projects, we’re asking for the safety of our personnel, we’re asking for a successful project and we’re also asking for forgiveness for disturbing the land, for disturbing Mother Earth,” explains Joseph Daniels, Director...
