Volunteers Help Make Canoe Kayak Nationals a Success in Regina

Colourful canoes and kayaks, all lined up and ready to race, filled the south side of Wascana Lake at the end of August for the 2025 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships. These championships drew more than 900 athletes from all over Canada to Regina. With so many athletes and races, it was all hands on deck to help the event run smoothly. That’s where more than 200 volunteers came in. “This event definitely could not happen without volunteers,” says Nathan Wilson, a member of the host organizing committee. “There can be up to 17 boats on the water at once, so we need people to help...

‘The Key Message is Safety’: SaskEnergy Provides Training to Volunteer Fire Fighters

It’s important to SaskEnergy that when a volunteer fire department responds to an emergency that involves natural gas, they feel prepared and confident in keeping the situation safe. That’s why, for two decades, SaskEnergy has supported the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association (SVFFA) by providing training and sponsorship support. The latest round of training came at this spring’s SVFFA fire school in Melville, where firefighters were provided with information on how to respond to a natural gas-related emergency. Attending the fire school to provide the training were SaskEnergy...

Supporting hundreds of volunteers at World Curling Championship in Moose Jaw

The curlers weren’t the only ones hurrying hard at the 2025 BKT World Men’s Curling Championship — with 13 teams and over 75,000 fans attending nine days of curling action, it was the efforts of the more than 300 volunteers who made the event a success! As the official volunteer sponsor for the Championship, which took place from March 29 to April 6, 2025 in Moose Jaw, SaskEnergy was proud to support all the volunteers who hosted the event — helping fans to their seats, taking and selling tickets, providing support to athletes, setting up the venue and more! “It was an exciting week in Moose...

Get money back on energy-efficient furnaces, boilers and water heaters

SaskEnergy customers have about four months left to get money back when they replace existing natural gas equipment in their homes with eligible high-efficiency models. The Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate program, which ends June 30, 2022, encourages homeowners to choose the most energy-efficient equipment available. “Replacing your old natural gas equipment with new, high-efficiency models will lower your energy use, make your home more comfortable, and save you money,” said Kevin Adair, who leads SaskEnergy’s Customer Service Operations. Rebates can be up to $2,000 per home for an...

Importance of Southwest Sandhills highlighted during school tour

Students from the Grade 6 class at Leader Composite School had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of preserving Saskatchewan’s Southwest Sandhills. Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) hosted a tour of the Sandhills Cave Pasture, which allowed the students to explore the area, discovering the many animals, insects and plants that call it home. The tour was made possible through SaskEnergy’s sponsorship of NCC, which also strives to engage youth and create understanding and awareness of this important environmental area. “We had a wonderful time out at Cave Pasture with the...

Safety Events Prepare Students in Tisdale and Melville for Future Workplaces

What substance is added to natural gas to give it an odour? What does it smell like? Students got the answers to these questions and more as part of Cade Sprackman Safety Day events that took place in Tisdale and Melville during May. Members of SaskEnergy’s Operations team attended the events and had a station set up as part of an “Amazing Safety Quest.” The quest taught students about safety in a variety of industries in the province, so they are prepared before starting their careers. Natural Gas Service to be Discontinued at Nine Properties Due to Safety Concerns

Ground shifting impacts SaskEnergy’s ability to provide safe, long-term service in two areas After extensive monitoring, engineering and geotechnical analysis, SaskEnergy has determined it can no longer safely serve a small number of residential properties within two southern Saskatchewan resort communities due to ongoing ground movement. Slope movement in the community of South Lake, located on Buffalo Pound Lake, is impacting SaskEnergy’s natural gas pipelines, requiring service be discontinued to seven properties. SaskEnergy will be able to reroute a gas pipeline away from a slope movement...
