A new record for daily natural gas consumption in the province was set last Friday due to the extreme cold temperatures, along with high natural gas consumption from industrial customers and power plants. SaskEnergy set a 24-hour record on Friday, December 16 th, 2016 delivering 1.33 PetaJoules of natural gas to customers, three per cent higher than the record set earlier this year in January 2016. A new record for daily natural gas consumption in the province was set over the weekend due to the cold temperatures, along with high natural gas consumption and new customer growth. In the 24-hour period on Saturday, January 16 th to Sunday, January 17 th, TransGas, the natural gas transmission subsidiary of SaskEnergy, delivered 1.29 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas to its customers in Saskatchewan. SaskEnergy breaks all-time natural gas usage record three times in three days

Daily natural gas consumption in the province has set a new record of 1.43 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas. This record, set in the 24-hour period between 9 a.m. December 26 and 9 a.m. December 27, breaks new records set on both December 24 and December 25. These records all surpass the 1.33 PJ record from the winter of 2016/2017. There is a lot of good that sharing a little warmth can do. In honour of the 30th anniversary of SaskEnergy’s Share the Warmth program, we launched Share the Warmth Days.
