SaskEnergy Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ken From as President and CEO of the Crown natural gas utility, effective January 1st, 2017. From will take over the lead role from Doug Kelln, who announced his retirement in May 2016.

“Ken brings with him a varied and well-rounded background that will serve the organization well as he takes on the leadership role at SaskEnergy,” said Susan Barber, Chair of the SaskEnergy Board of Directors. “He is well-respected in the industry and has also been recognized by a number of professional associations through their fellow designations. Ken’s leadership experience in both the private sector and the not-for-profit research sector in the oil and gas field will ensure the organization has the focus and direction needed to continue being a leader in the industry. The Board is very pleased to welcome Ken back to SaskEnergy.”

In addition to 26 years with SaskEnergy at the director and executive levels, Ken most recently held the Chief Executive Officer position at the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC). He was successful at building relationships between stakeholders and management, as well as with the oil and gas industry, and worked tirelessly to develop effective and innovative business plans that fostered new collaborations within the research community.

He also spent a number of years as CEO of the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) and was a co-founder of a Saskatchewan based junior oil company.

From holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan, and has been recognized as a Fellow by Engineers Canada (FEC), and Geoscientists Canada (FGC Hon).
