Provincial government approves SaskEnergy’s commodity rate increase; the lowest rate in Canada

The Government of Saskatchewan has approved SaskEnergy’s application to increase its commodity rate — the first increase in seven years after four consecutive decreases. The new rate will be the lowest in Canada. Effective November 1, 2021, SaskEnergy’s commodity rate changes from $2.575/Gigajoule (GJ) to $3.20/GJ. SaskEnergy sets new daily natural gas usage record

Extreme cold weather across Saskatchewan this week resulted in record-breaking natural gas demand in the province. On December 28 and 29, natural gas consumption surpassed the previous daily record of 1.57 petajoules (PJ) which was set in February 2021. A new daily record of 1.62 PJ was set on December 28 and broken again on December 29 with total system delivery of 1.64 PJ. Public safety and system improvements focus of rate application

SaskEnergy has applied to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel for a Delivery Service Rate increase to support continued elevated capital spending on system safety and customer growth initiatives totaling more than $50 million in 2017/18. SaskEnergy “going solar” to cut emissions at Town Border Stations

SaskEnergy has converted its Town Border Station in southwest Regina to generate solar power as part of its commitment to cut emissions. The Regina station is the first of several such facilities across Saskatchewan that will be converted to generate solar power over the next seven years.
