Extreme cold weather across Saskatchewan this past week resulted in record-breaking natural gas demand in the province. The peak demand was on January 12 with a natural gas consumption rate of 1.70 petajoules per day (PJ/d). Daily natural gas consumption in the province over the last 24 hours (9:00 a.m. Thursday to 9:00 a.m. today) has tied the previous record set in December 2016 of 1.33 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas. One of SaskEnergy’s flagship community programs—Share the Warmth—is back to support Saskatchewan people in need this winter.
