Services and charges As your natural gas utility, our goal is to ensure we manage rates in a fair and equitable way. In most cases, natural gas is more affordable than other energy source options. SaskEnergy rate charges on your bill are made up of three parts: 1. Gas Delivery Service Basic Monthly Charge (Fixed Amount) Includes the cost of the service line, meter, meter reading, 24 hour emergency services and account administration. Our Meters Send Reads Automatically Most of our natural gas meters provide meter reads automatically. You don’t need to submit a monthly meter read. Other charges are applied to your bill as required. The Commodity Rate in dollars per cubic metre ($/m 3) may be converted to a rate in dollars per gigajoule ($/GJ) by dividing it by SaskEnergy's forecast heating value of 0.03950 GJ/m 3.
