As the weather turns cold, our customers rely on natural gas to heat their homes and businesses. SaskEnergy plans year-round to provide Saskatchewan residents with the energy they need. One of the ways we meet the demand for energy is with storage caverns. Storage caverns are large underground cavities where we can safely store natural gas. In early 2023, SaskEnergy’s first net-metering solar installation at Town Border Station (TBS) 1 in southwest Regina began generating electricity from the 176 solar panels installed on site. A quarter century ago, our construction crews were a main attraction for children spending their summers at Kenosee Provincial Park. SaskEnergy employees worked for several summers to extend gas service to cabins in the area in the late 1990s. “Some kids, you couldn’t get rid of them. This was demonstrated through efforts to make volunteering accessible at this year’s Games, and through cultural celebrations showcasing the diversity of our province. SaskEnergy was proud to be the Champion of Volunteers for the 50th Saskatchewan Winter Games, a youth sporting celebration that took place in Regina from February 19 to 25, supported by 700 volunteers. The Goals for KidSport program wrapped up another season with more than $20,000 raised to help ease financial barriers for youth involved in sports. The program is a three-way partnership between SaskEnergy and its Network Members, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and KidSport. During the program’s nine years, more than $230,000 has been raised! The SJHL is the program's sponsored partner and brings Goals for KidSport to 11 communities across the province.
