7 things you need to know about CO alarms

We’ve teamed up with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) and Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) to let you know about the crucial need for carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. Why? Because having a working CO alarm in your home could save your life, and the lives of those you love. Last year, SaskEnergy responded to over 1,500 CO calls. Four teams from SaskEnergy joined others from the community at the University of Regina in late September to take part in the annual event. The event was started in 2008 by Glen Anaquod, an Elder from Muscowpetung First Nation, to bring cultures together and share teachings in a kind and loving way. “It is a competition. But the day is about participating in Indigenous culture, team building and most important, having fun,” says Sharla Sparvier...

About the Grain Drying Energy Estimator

Assumptions used in this estimator: The amount of energy required to evaporate 1 pound of water is 2,000 British Thermal Units (BTU’s). The amount of energy needed to dry grain varies. It depends on factors such as the energy efficiency of your grain drying unit. Environmental factors such as humidity and temperature also play a role. This calculator does not factor losses from conveyance or handling of grain. These can vary by crop type. The target levels of dryness used are samples to compare energy sources. These are for illustration purposes only. Calculations: The total annual energy cost...
