For several years running, SaskEnergy employees have volunteered their time to support annual community cleanups in Regina and Yorkton. In Regina on May 11, SaskEnergy pitched in at the North Central Community Association (NCCA)’s annual community cleanup to help make the central Regina neighbourhood a bit cleaner and safer. More than 20 employees and their family members assisted in filling nine oversized garbage bins with difficult-to-dispose items. A recent blanket exercise at our Regina Service Centre hit close to home for SaskEnergy Operations employee Todd Sanderson. Colourful canoes and kayaks, all lined up and ready to race, filled the south side of Wascana Lake at the end of August for the 2025 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships. These championships drew more than 900 athletes from all over Canada to Regina. With so many athletes and races, it was all hands on deck to help the event run smoothly. Every day, the Regina Food Bank helps about 500 families — and that number keeps growing. During the holiday season, the need is even greater, making extra help from volunteers essential. SaskEnergy is committed to protecting heritage and cultural sites in our day-to-day operations. With the help of a heritage screening tool, SaskEnergy has uncovered some of Saskatchewan’s history. The tool — which is GIS-based — is used before the start of our digging projects. It helps determine if a work site needs extra assessment or more resources. The screening tool was used for the 2021 upgrade of service lines in the Nutana neighbourhood in Saskatoon — one of the oldest areas of the city. At the end of July, 12 co-op and summer students from SaskEnergy spent two days volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Regina. For Samarth Soni, a co-op student in our Enterprise Networks team, it was his first time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
