SaskEnergy focused on customers and the environment in 2021-22

SaskEnergy provided value to customers throughout 2021-22 — including the lowest residential natural gas bills in Canada — while delivering strong financial results on behalf of the people of Saskatchewan. In its annual report released today, SaskEnergy reported net income from operations of $82 million - up $23 million compared to last year. The increase is largely due to a one-time accounting adjustment related to the conclusion of litigation that awarded SaskEnergy title to its head office building in Regina. Higher demand for natural gas from industrial customers, as well as higher demand...

One of the ways we meet the demand for energy is with storage caverns. Storage caverns are large underground cavities where we can safely store natural gas. A storage cavern has an average size of about 40 to 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools and are about one kilometre below the ground. “A storage cavern is the greatest thing for the storage of energy,” says Derek Leach, Director of SaskEnergy’s System Control...

SaskEnergy Launches $50 million System Expansion Project to Meet Increased Natural Gas Demand

As the demand for natural gas continues to grow in Saskatchewan, SaskEnergy is investing nearly $50 million in a system expansion project to meet the current and future energy needs of eastern Saskatchewan. Construction is now underway on The Regina East Expansion Project, which will increase natural gas capacity for residential, commercial and industrial growth in the Yorkton and Regina areas. “Saskatchewan’s growing population and booming economy need safe, reliable and affordable natural gas to heat our homes and fuel our industries,” said Greg Ottenbreit, MLA for Yorkton. “SaskEnergy’s...
