Employees from SaskEnergy’s Swift Current office have once again stepped up to help families in need in their community. For more than a decade, they have been carrying on a tradition of supporting the local Salvation Army food bank. “It’s a team effort for a great cause,” says Mike Rossiter, General Manager of Operations in the Southwest Area. “In the fall, we put a call out to our Operations and Customer Service team members, and they come through every year.” In addition to employee donations, SaskEnergy provided a $200 grant to purchase items for the food bank. Highlighting Saskatchewan community organizations through Share the Warmth Days

There is a lot of good that sharing a little warmth can do. In honour of the 30th anniversary of SaskEnergy’s Share the Warmth program, we launched Share the Warmth Days. The initiative — which ran until February 13 — featured a series of events across the province aimed at highlighting community-based organizations who bring warmth, including shelter, food, clothing and mental health services, to those who need it most. For Share the Warmth Days event, SaskEnergy volunteers partnered with a local organization that was one of this year’s Share the Warmth grant recipients to hand out bags of...

SaskEnergy’s operational emissions include those from our natural gas system as well as company-owned vehicles, and emissions related to heating and powering our offices and facilities. We are now halfway toward achieving this goal. Our roadmap SaskEnergy has three priority areas to align projects and activities that address our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 1. Vent gas reduction About 25 per cent of SaskEnergy’s emissions come...

Freeze/thaw cycle creates conditions for possible underground natural gas leaks

SaskEnergy is advising customers – both residential and business – that the unseasonably warm weather, following right after intense cold across the province, may create conditions that can lead to an underground natural gas leak. + While SaskEnergy’s pipeline system is designed to withstand Saskatchewan’s weather conditions, underground leaks can occur, typically in the spring, as frost leaves the ground. This year, due to the intense cold and the depth of the frost layer, followed by sudden warming, SaskEnergy is alerting customers that conditions are favourable for a leak to occur. If you...
