Daily natural gas consumption in the province has set a new record of 1.43 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas. This record, set in the 24-hour period between 9 a.m. December 26 and 9 a.m. December 27, breaks new records set on both December 24 and December 25. These records all surpass the 1.33 PJ record from the winter of 2016/2017. Closures to be implemented February 1 st, 2017 SaskEnergy will discontinue cashiering services at its Regina and Saskatoon service centre locations in February due to a continual drop in customer use. No job loss or relocation of employees will occur as a result of these closures. SaskEnergy has completed the investigation into the October 2014 gas release and fire at its Prud’homme natural gas storage facility east of Saskatoon. The nine-day incident began October 11 th, 2014 at one of the seven underground natural gas storage caverns at the facility. No one was hurt in the incident, and no service was lost to any residential, business or industrial customer. In 2016-17, SaskEnergy recorded income before unrealized market value adjustments of $70 million, compared to $86 million for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2016. In support of carbon monoxide (CO) safety awareness, and after a successful launch of the program, SaskEnergy is extending its CO alarm rebate offer until March 31, 2021. SaskEnergy initially partnered with retailers across Saskatchewan to offer a $10 rebate on the purchase of CO alarms from November 2, 2020 to January 31, 2021.
